The client’s problem

Three thousand products is not a catalogue problem, it is a navigation problem. A tradesperson arrives knowing the cut they need to make, not the product code — and they arrive on a phone, on a site, in Japanese, with a minute of patience.

The approach

Model the catalogue by specification rather than by product family, so search runs on the attributes a buyer actually holds in their head — material, cut, diameter, tooth count. Everything else follows from that one decision.

What our team did

We did the information architecture for the catalogue, the specification-led search model, the interface design, and the bilingual JP/EN front-end build. We host and maintain the site. Tenryu Saw supplied the product data, the specifications and the photography.

Delivery scope

  • Catalogue information architecture and specification search model
  • Responsive site design, JP + EN
  • Production build and source code
  • Monitored hosting and maintenance

What was handed over. Anything not on this list was not ours.

Results

No measured before-and-after has been published for this project. We do not have instrumentation agreed with the client, so there is no verified figure to show — and we would rather leave this empty than fill it with one we cannot stand behind.
